While my group and I were observing in the library for the paper we had to write i noticed some very interesting things. I did not realize how different guys and girls are when it comes to acting in public. For instance guys were usually alone and kept to themselves while girls were usually with a group and if they were alone most of them stopped and talked to a friend for at least a couple of minutes. Also, nobody sat by a person that they did not know on the computers. the only time i saw this happen was when there were no more open computers without sitting next to a person.

I have found out that it has been a lot harder than I thought to find information about my topic. Even though this is a topic that would be easy to interview fire fighters how they deal with stress I do not think that it would help write my paper completely. This is a reason why i have had to restore to a lot of online sources, which makes me wonder how credible they are. I think the only thing that i can do really is interview fire fighters and hope that they have some source that they could forward to me or help me find.

Journal

One thing that I found that was surprising about my topic is that more firefighters die from to much stress than actual fires. In 2004 I found that around a 110 firefighters died altogether and 66 of them were because of to much stress. This is an interesting fact for me based on the fact that it has hard to wrap your brain around this fact. I do thing that the least surprising fact that I have found so far is that most firefighters do not talk about their stress because they think that it is a weakness of theirs to have stress.

Journal #3

For the paper that we have to write I am going to write about the stress that comes with being a fire fighter in Lawrence Twp. I have found three sources at the library that I think that i can use to help me write my paper, plus i have plenty of people that I can talk to about this topic. Since I know just about every fire fighter in the Lawrence Twp. area it will not be a problem for me to have actual interviews with people to talk about how they deal with stress or if they even have stress when comes to the job they do every day.

With the first three chapters we had to read we learned a lot about writing a paper. I didn't realize how much work actually went into writing a paper. I always thought that it was a lot easier just to look up on line everything I needed to know about a topic and never really thought about using an actual book. Even though using an actual book will take a lot longer to find information I think it will really help understand a topic a lot better.

Journal #1

I thought that the syllabus was a great way for showing us how much everything is worth in the class. Also, it let us know that it is a very bad idea to miss classes since it will kill your grade. The best feature I think of the entire syllabus is the schedule on the very last page. It tells you exactly when everything is due for the entire class. It also, shows you what you are doing every day in class for the entire semester.
